Pantone Unveils the Color of the Year!
As the holidays become a memory, the designers at FastFrame are excited to revisit one of our favorite events of the season. Color is so important in the custom framing world, so no tradition is more exciting to us than gathering around our laptops for the Pantone Color of the Year announcement!
If you haven’t heard of Pantone or aren’t sure what all the fuss is about, we’ll share! In 1963, the Pantone Color System was created to solve the problem of complicated color matching in the printing industry. The system subscribes a number to classify every color and has now become the go-to color matching system for designers.
This year, in true pandemic-era fashion, the color experts at Pantone have given us a bit of a surprise. Rather than choose a single shade to define the coming year, Pantone has announced two picks. They felt a single hue simply couldn’t define all of the experiences from 2020 that will inevitably impact 2021. Now, let’s meet these newly famous colors.
PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating
This is a punchy yellow that evokes the warm tones of sunny days and bright flowers. As the lightest hue of the spectrum, yellow is uplifting and arouses feelings of happiness, cheerfulness, and fun.
PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray
This color is reminiscent of warm blankets and favorite sweaters. It quietly assures and encourages feelings of composure, steadiness, and resilience.
Now that the new year has finally arrived, there’s no better time to refresh your home with this great color combination! While yellow and gray are distinct colors that can stand alone, Pantone believes they’re meant to complement one another for 2021. Think about a cheery yellow wall paired with some gray wall decor or creating a cluster of grayscale prints in bright yellow frames.
These colors are also a great pair for home necessities like table linens, sheeting, and towels or cushions, giving otherwise everyday items a bright new look. If you love these colors as much as us, try incorporating this new duo into a gallery wall. There’s no better time than the new year to finally do something with that blank wall in the dining room or hallway.
Start by searching for a local artist to support. Most artists have their own websites that allow you to browse their work, purchase, and have the print shipped right to your nearest FastFrame store for matting and framing. After finding some artwork with plenty of yellow brushstrokes, look through your phone or Instagram for some photos that compliment the piece. Now you’ve got the makings of your own, self-curated gallery wall! The final step is to get these pieces custom framed at FastFrame. We’ll help you to choose all the right colors to make your art and photos really pop and brighten up your home in the new year!
